why brand name, why now?

To explain that I must give thanks to our team, our customers, and our clients and beautiful stores around the country for growing this collection into what it has become. It has been an honor to work for customers and watch this collection grow. It is now very large collection that continues to grow each year.
The natural next step to give it a proper name of its own :)

what does name mean to you?

Tòmas means Twin. I have twin daughters and everything I do, I dedicate to my daughters. I do not know if they will want to be in the business when they grow up. But it is like a book dedication. They are the light of life. I dedicate everything to them and that is across all brands in our symbols. Tòmas is also the sister brand, the “twin” to Emerson Fry. As the sister, it has its own unique expression in the world.

But it is all coming from the same design house (Emerson Fry) and so it is all connected. There is a common thread thru all. You will see it in the art for the brands, you will see it in the use of twin doves icons in all brands, which comes from my paintings of my daughters. You will see it in the overarching dedication to our teams, our factories and our customers.

what can we expect to see from Love Tòmas? 

We started India Collection to partner with India textile arts - specifically hand block print and hand screen print.
We were very fortunate to meet our partner many years ago, and grow together. We are very dear friends and this has one of the honors of a lifetime to grow the collection to what it is becoming.
The customer would like to see this collection shoppable year-around, with more daily-wear options. So you will see more neutral foundation pieces that harmonize with the hand block and hand screen print work.

can you tell us about specific design, technique, materials?

In terms of materials: we use a lot of organic cotton, we are using a linen that has a washed-lived-in softness and drape. We work with silk and some beautiful natural fiber alternatives to silk. We are working in more embroideries. This collection is the balance between quiet swaths of color, quiet prints and active complex prints. Some customers shop the solid colors, some shop the prints, some shop both. It is fun to see how she (customer) wears these pieces, or how boutique or wholesale client styles and presents it. Really the most fun part of the work and such an honor to see.

Love Tòmas is the really easy, artfully lived in, wear forever, pack-and-go sister collection to our USA collection Emerson Fry which focuses on tailoring, and polished wardrobe investment pieces and lux knits and essentials.

Tòmas collection is soft, artfully rumpled, embellished with embroideries and textural cottons and linens and a celebration of the ancient art of hand block print.

All of our collections harmonize together.

but truthfully its something I think about everyday, because you are all part of our great blessings.

for over 15 years we have built a thriving, independently owned + operated business producing garments in the USA (Emerson Fry and Twin Doves Denim) and a thriving business in India (Love Tomas) producing garments using artisan techniques with our partners in our family owned factory in Jaipur. 

because of you, our factories thrive, our teams thrive, and we employ people who love what they do and dedicate their livlihoods to making beautiful, meaningful products for you in your life. 

clothing has that profound meaning from the care and expertise of the hands that produce it to its lifespan of memories in your closet. 

that treasured jacket you wear everyday takes on the marks of your travels, the character of your stories. the little french flowers on the favorite weekend dress becomes the treasured background of ones childrens memories.

our factories, teams, distributers, fabric, trim sources are thankful to you every day of the year.
